Krista Taylor and Kimberly Gilmore each received a $750 Educational Scholarship—an opportunity presented to them in recognition of their many volunteer hours. The Educational Scholarship can be applied towards participating in riding clinics, attending classes on matters of horse welfare or other educational opportunities directed at improving one’s equitation or horsemanship skills.

To be eligible for the scholarship, members must complete a minimum of 5 volunteer hours at a WSHJA activity.  At the annual members meeting, two names, one child/junior and one adult, will be drawn to receive the scholarship.

One of the founding principles of WSHJA is to ensure a vibrant show season with plenty of options for every level of rider and horse to compete in a fair and sanctioned competition in their home state.

As an Affiliate organization to the USEF & USHJA, WSHJA owns and presents six shows a year. As WSHJA is a non-profit member-based association, these six shows are presented for the benefit of the membership and hunter jumper community-at-large. All “profits” are put back into the association for future enhancements.

Here is your chance to convert those quality tack items into cash while benefiting WSHJA! Get the whole barn involved! Gather up all your items as a group, complete the inventory & pricing forms, and contact WSHJATackSale@gmail.com to arrange a pickup time.

The Consignment Sale accepts all types of tack: bridles, bits, girths, martingales, blankets, halters, boots (both human and equine), hats, gloves, leather goods, equipment, etc. Please no riding clothes!

Also we will likely accept saddles this year at the Evergreen Classic. 

The WSHJA Tack Sale booth will be staffed on the weekends at all the WSHJA shows in 2013 including the Spring Nationals, Evergreen Classic, NW Autumn Classic and the October Classic. You can drop off items to be sold and browse the items available.

A consignment fee is paid to WSHJA based on how much you consign to be sold: if you consign over $500 in value, you pay 25% to WSHJA, if you consign $500 or less, you pay 35% to WSHJA. You will receive a check for your items once all of them are sold or by 11/30/13, whichever is first.

Whether you have owned a horse for 5 weeks or 5 years, you probably have several items of tack that you bought and just haven’t used. This is your opportunity to find those items a new home, free up some cash and buy tack you can use! Come and shop for great bargains as we build up the inventory. We are at the shows, so bring your horse over and try it on before you buy!

Bring your bridles, bits, girths, martingales, blankets, halters, leather goods, equipment, etc. to the show and drop them off (If you have a single item over 50 lbs, please check first via email.) We are excluding saddles and clothes for the sale this year. When you come to the show, be sure to stop by and check out the inventory. The WSHJA Tack Sale is “credit card only” for purchases.

The WSHJA Tack Sale booth will be staffed at all the WSHJA shows and you can drop off items to be sold and browse the items available. A consignment fee is paid to WSHJA based on how much you consign to be sold: if you consign over $500 in value, you pay 25% to WSHJA, if you consign $500 or less, you pay 35% to WSHJA. The President's Cup Award is presented to an individual or individuals who contribution to WSHJA has made a significant impact on WSHJA achieving its goals and fulfilling its mission. WSHJA President Shelly Kerron had the pleasure of presenting four individuals with the 2012 President’s Cup Award. Every last one of them a tribute to the hunter jumper sport and to the WSHJA community.

When it comes to running a show office with efficacy and grace, Barbara is WSHJA’s shining star. One of WSHJA’s founding members, Barbara has championed WSHJA and its horse shows throughout the years and through many changes. Thank you Barb.

It was a festive and glittery evening for the recipients of WSHJA 2012 Annual Awards. The room filled with riders and their adoring fans (aka parents, grandparents, fellow barn mates, and longtime supporters of WSHJA) to celebrate not only this year’s award recipients but to remember many of the greats from a 60 year history.

There was a lot to celebrate. And many people to recognize. WSHJA presented 36 State Awards, 82 National Awards, 30 USHJA Zone 9 Awards. Plus WSHJA honored four President’s Cup Awards recipients, three Sportsmanship Award recipients and three USHJA Affiliate Equitation Awards for the WSHJA Good Seat & Hands Medal. That’s a lot of celebrating.

The whole evening was made possible through the generous contributions of our member volunteers. A huge thanks goes out to;

• Our talented announcers Scott Trewin, Bo Masters and Trevor Peterson we made it through in record time. A full evening indeed, but with 129 awards to present what are you going to do. Our announcers kept it flowing, presenting each award with enthusiasm and good spirit throughout the night.
• Karen Freywald and her well organized team of ribbon and prize presenters Kim Gilmore, Melody Gilmore, Amy Kosmos, Val Nelson, Stephanie Von Gortler, Diane Renihan.
• Betsy Christianson, Gillian Baird, Peter Brandon and Grady Kerron for presenting all the perpetual trophies. Lauren Myers and Emily Hilton for handing out the USHJA Zone 9 trophies.
• The whole stylish movie star worthy room is thanks to Lynn Trewin and her band of volunteers Laney Senyohl, Krista Taylor, Liza Taylor, Camille Brash, Kim Stuckens, Jennifer Sparks
• Jessica Vania for the commemorative program that will surely be a keepsake for years to come. And to Gary Voth, Rory Wade-Easely, Bobbie Harder for the photo slideshows that reminded us all what great company we are in.
• Pat Domine and all the donors and bidders who made the silent auction a success, raising $6200 in support of the WSHJA Scholarship Fund.
• Nancy Lewis, Suzanne Hitz and Katie Seymour for handling 420 registrations with grace and efficiency.
• The Katies for raising $1300 in the raffle. Katie Nubel of CWD for donating the bridle and reins.  Katie Sputh for her stellar ticket sales.
