Some Important Points About Points

Thanks to the tremendous commitment of WSHJA’s Points Chair, Karen Freywald, you might have noticed that your point standings are updated within two weeks of the end of show dates. Not only that, Karen has proactively reached out to everyone to help get their membership current or their horses recorded so that they receive each and every point earned. Please recognize Karen for the spectacular job she’s done so far!

With over 130 year-end award categories, 81 for the National Program and 51 for State, it is quite the undertaking to ensure all points earned from the many horse shows WSHJA members attend up and down the coast are captured and accrued properly.

Read on for the four important steps you can take to ensure every point you worked so hard to earn is tracked and awarded!

  1. 1) Check the membership & horse rosters posted on WSHJA.org to verify that your registration and your horse’s recording are accurate. Any questions or changes please submit to Membership Services at memberservices@wshja.org
  2. 2) Check the list of official show results that have been submitted to the WSHJA, listed within the Points section of the WSHJA website. Please be aware that not all horse shows, especially those held out-of-state, send WSHJA results. As such it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to request the horse show secretary send in official results, the same file sent to the USEF, along with a copy of the Prize list to points@wshja.org within 45 days after the show.
  3. 3) Periodically check your points standings at WSHJA.org website and notifying points@wshja.org of any additions or changes.
  4. 4) Please notify Membership Services at memberservices@wshja.org of any changes in ownership, leases or name changes. Points accrued to date go with the horse provided the new owner/lessee is or becomes a WSHJA member. If the horse’s name is changed during the year, we need to be notified so the proper horse is credited with the points earned.
